Postbox Fairy

Have just bought some lovely miniature daffodils (well, technically, narcissi*)from the market (7 bunches for £2).

It's kind of become an annual mini-tradition for me since I was about fifteen. Having a bunch of daffodils in a vase (or a tumbler) is a sure sign that spring is not too far away. And I love buying them as tight green buds and watching them open into glorious yellow trumpets.

They're also much cheaper than most cut flowers (important when I was an impoverished student), and generally grown fairly locally, so environmentally friendly too.

I think daffodils have my vote for most cheerful flower.

*It depends on the relative size of the cup & the petals.

Thought for the Day

paraphrased from something said by andrewwyld

Between black and white there are not just shades of grey -- there's red and orange and pink and green and blue.

I like that as a world view to aim for. In fact, I think I'm going to add it to my profile.
