Also, I have now managed to see the last episode of Sex and the City, courtesy of E4.
I think they did a pretty good job actually, and admit I was slightly moist-eyed by the end. Interestingly, the scene I found most moving wasn't a romantic one - it was the moment where Magda told Miranda "What you did, that was love" and kissed her on the forehead. In fact, it had such an impact on me that I now plan to write a story all about Magda charting the course of her relationship with Miranda and her family - from disapproval, through respect and understanding, to love (of a completely nonsexual kind). I'm really going to try with this one - take my time, do some research, play around with the structure, try to get a real narrative voice going, and see just what I can do when the safety-net of 'something I just dashed off' isn't there.
I plan to invent a fair amount of backstory for Magda too. I seem to remember she's Polish - does anyone know if I'm right about that? (edit: according to the official site, she's Ukrainian) And what, if anything have we been told about her history in the series?
